My project for Sculpture Co. was to develop a piece of jewellery as a limited edition, making use of existing facilities and staff, whilst adding the scope of knowledge and process for Sculpture Co.
The resulting design for a ring/pendant set evolved from the understanding that one of the Japanese alloys I wanted to use, could not be worn touching the skin over a longer time with its high copper content causing green fingers.
It is not new to my practice to have impermanent settings between ring shanks and “jewels”. Exploring kinetic constructions that add movement and sound to the visual experience have sometimes appeared in my work.
